Art Classes South
Offering adult part time art classes in Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and Salisbury as part of a 14 week course in an intimate and social environment. We work with The Seasons Art Class who maintain a high standard nationally and internationally. We have held the licence for Salisbury and surrounding areas since July 2012 and have since obtained licenses for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Our tutors are highly qualified and are able to help each student develop their artistic skills in a fun, interesting and comprehensive course. Our courses are taught at a level appropriate to individual experience, accommodating beginners to the more advanced artists. Not only will you learn a new skill, but you will also have the opportunity to make new friends. By the end of our course you will be able to draw, paint and display a variety of art pieces from misty mountain tops to mystical seasides.
Each course is scheduled to start at the beginning of a new season and is themed around that season. A course is 14 weeks long, which allows for 3 seasons per year. At the moment, we have chosen Spring, Summer and Autumn with a special Christmas theme in the Autumn season. Classes are once a week for 3 hours and you have the option between a morning or an afternoon class.
Our experienced and friendly tutors and their assistants are there to help you every step of the way. Many students return for additional courses therefore we cover a range of different medium to keep each lesson different for the returning students
Week 1-3 - Drawing
Aimed at beginners and experienced artists to cover basic elements of picture construction, perspective, balance, and scale among other things which provides a foundation for the remainder of your course.
Week 4-5 - Oil Pastels
On these weeks, you will start to introduce colour, texture and tone to your art using oil pastels.
Week 6-8 - Watercolours
Various brush strokes and techniques are covered during this time. We also explore the colour wheel; mixing colours, hues and tones and working with light and shadows. In this delicate technique, our tutor will also teach you the importance of paper preparation.
Week 9-12 - Acrylic Painting
This is an exciting part of your course where you will learn to use water based acrylic paint which offers vibrant colours and texture using both pain brushes and palette knives.
Week 13 - Mounting Artwork
Your art should be displayed correctly to look its best. This week we will be putting temporary mounts on your work.
Week 14 - Exhibition
In the final week, you will have the opportunity to display your finest work at a private exhibition. Free tickets are available of you to invite as many guests as you would like. This provides a social and rewarding conclusion to your course.
